Ed brings more than 17 years of communications experience to Wordwright’s clients. He has worked with companies ranging from Fortune 50 firms to Internet startups in industries as diverse as health care, technology, and finance. Our clients find that Ed quickly understands both their business objectives and company culture, and translates his insight into compelling messages that resonate with employees.

Ed maintains a strong commitment to pro bono communications work and lends his project management and copywriting expertise to the Taproot Foundation, headquartered in San Francisco. The foundation enables business professionals to donate their skills to nonprofits to help address society’s most pressing social and environmental issues.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Swarthmore College, Ed completed his master’s studies in linguistics with a specialty in multicultural communications and qualitative research. He is also fluent in Finnish and has taught Finnish to children and adults in the Bay Area.

 

Achievements

  • Winner of two 2009 IABC Silver Quill Awards of Excellence and a 2009 PRSA Silver Anvil Award of Merit for Gilead Sciences Open Enrollment Campaign.
  • Creator of communications for UnitedHealthcare, specializing in complex employee benefits programs
  • Led implementation and training for the largest client of Embark, an educational technology firm.
  • Worked in Europe for seven years, implementing communications training programs for firms such as Nokia and serving as a translator/interpreter.
  • More than seven years of service for the Taproot Foundation, serving on nine consecutive grant teams for pro bono clients including Friends of the San Francisco Public Library, LifeLong Medical Care, Operation Access, and Streetside Stories.
  • VP of Operations for the San Francisco chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
  • Extensive coursework in business administration at the University of California—Berkeley.
